Another month and a half of no blogging except for the picture of all the wool I won from Ravelry. I need to figure out how to spin it or get someone to do it for me.
The trip was great. Busy as hell, but great. Lovely to see Mick and Suzanne get married. Mick's always been a real mensch in my mind and I am so happy he found someone like Suzanne, who is beautiful, smart, funny and nice and really appreciates him. Also wonderful to see Chris and Martina and sweet good natured baby Hugo. We hadn't seen them in three years and had never met Hugo so that was a real treat! And lastly, seeing our dear friends Lise and Richard with their newly born beautiful daughter Stella was great. We stayed with them and it was wonderful - Stella was a perfect angel - so so beautiful and often quite serene. She really responded to me and I got a lot of smile and giggles out of her which pleased me to no end.
Our friend Bev scheduled her big fortieth birthday bash for when we were there and that was a wonderful event. Bev's mum and dad are lovely fun people and I enjoyed spending time with them as they laughed at every third word out of my mouth!
We also saw the folks who introduced us - Jen and Paul and that was fun. We see them more often than the rest because of their local ties, but it still was nice.
We spent a good deal of time with Brian and Izzy and Lisa and Steve at the wedding and in the beer gardens. We saw both Alans - Graham and Jones - and their kids - a real treat as well as Rita and Greg and their angelic boy and girl. We saw Graham and Hans - another treat. We saw Gulsemin a few times - she's great - and Joanna and her boyfriend, and Steve Hastings. Chris saw Gary. Forgive me if I've left anyone out - I'm sure I have. My memory is fuzzy because it was a month ago and because most of out meetups were done under the influence of much booze.
I had a great weekend alone in Providence with Chris and we managed to get to Newport, which was all I thought it would be with its gilded age cliffside mansions. Years spent reading Edith Wharton and Henry James was good preparation. Loved it. Great food in Providence too. Yum.
Just sent our two latest visitors from England back home after a really booze soaked weekend which began on Thursday night with a fairly serious session at our house with our guests Colin and Clive who are friends with Chris from the early days in Munich and Peggy and John, who are always up for a tipple. The boys went into the city on Friday and we had a BBQ on Saturday night with a bunch of the usual suspects. It was an absolutely perfect night in the yard which went on for hours. Lots and lots of laughs.
Let's see if I can't jumpstart this blog. if I can't, I'm retiring.
